It’s over.

Call off the search.  Relieve the search party.

My quest to find the ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie has ended.  My own Hunger Games are over.  Ok, enough with the nerdy drama.  But really, these cookies are the quintessential all-American favorite that we all long for.

One common ailment of several chocolate chip recipes is that the cookies end up flat and the chocolate chips protrude out of the lifeless cookie.  I like a thick and chewy cookie that I can really sink my teeth into.  And this cookie is just that.

Also, I like large chocolate chunks or chips.  None of this mini chip stuff.  My absolute favorite chips are Milk Chocolate Guittard.  They are so creamy and soft and much larger than some other brands.  In this cookie, I combined these chips with some semi-sweet for a balanced sweetness and richness.

There are a couple of things that are unique about this recipe.  Instead of all-purpose flour, bread and cake flours are combined to give a soft and chewy cookie.  There is baking powder and baking soda which helps to leaven the cookie and make them nice and thick.  Lastly, it calls for a lot of chocolate.  I’m talking 1 1/4 pounds.  No wonder they are the best.
